The South West is a major centre for the Life Science and Biotechnology industry with internationally recognised excellence in many applications including Marine, Pharmaceuticals, Environmental Technologies and Food Technology to Healthcare. The Life Science and Biotechnology industry is very dynamic and at the forefront of exploring opportunities for partnering, licensing and forging positive collaborations.
The West of England is home to a wide array of companies across the sector including the National Collection of Pathogenic Fungi (NCPF), Hunter Fleming Ltd, Defence Diversification Agency and strong research facilities and expertise at the Universities of Bath and Bristol.
BioApproaches SW, funded by the South West of England Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) supports the sector. It is a networking organisation dedicated to promoting the business and professional development of the biotechnology sector in the South West of England.
