A multi-billion pound investment programme
The West of England continues to go from strength to strength. Ambitious targets for economic growth including new jobs, homes and business premises have been proposed up to 2026. Major economic development and infrastructure projects with an anticipated total value of 3 billion GBP across office, industrial, retail, leisure / culture, transport and education sectors are either presently under construction or in the planning pipeline right across the city region.
Key development sites include Bristol's new Cabot Circus retail centre, the Bristol and Bath Science Park, major mixed-use developments at Bath Western Riverside and Weston-super-Mare on Locking Parklands and the former Airfield, and a new Skills Academy and secondary schools for Bristol. This growth is to be supported by major infrastructure projects including the proposed expansion of the port and airport and 300 million GBP of investment in transport focused on Greater Bristol, Bath and Weston-super-Mare.
